CLINICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
What is clinical waste?
Clinical waste is potentially hazardous and infectious material that is produced in all healthcare premises, public, private or veterinarian practices, nursing homes, and research centers. Regarded as a risk to the health and safety of people and the environment its management is subject to stringent regulatory requirements that govern collection, storage and transportation of the waste for incineration.
History
In the past most hospitals operated their own incinerators but new emission limits and operating standards imposed by the Department of Environment required specially trained professionals fully dedicated to clinical waste management. Under the Hospital Support Services Privatisation Project (HSS), private sector specialists companies such as Radicare’s are tasked with the managing of clinical waste disposal in accordance with strict safety standards.
Incinerator Plant
Radicare's team of experienced specialists in each area of the clinical waste management process work and abides World Health Organisation (WHO) standards and its "cradle to grave control concept". As a result, Radicare has grown to become an acknowledged expert in operating incineration plants to the highest environmental standards. There are also smaller incinerator plants that serve Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu as well as a regional incinerator located in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor and a transport fleet of vehicles.
